St Patrick's Cross

St Patrick's Cross

St Patricks Cross Flag

St Patrick is the patron saint of Ireland. The origin of the St Patrick's Cross has been traced to the establishment of the Knights of Saint Patrick in 1783, when the red saltire on white was part of the Order's regalia. There are several theories as to why the Knights of Saint Patrick choose the red saltire as part of the regalia, but no real evidence to fully support any of them.
